History, Theology, and the Future of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)
Join us for a 4-week crash course in all things Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), including some history, theology, slogans, tradition, structure and how all of this shapes an identity that helps to imagine our future as a movement for wholeness. In true Disciples spirit, all are welcome: from cradle disciples to brand new to the church. Taught by Rev. Daniel Lyvers.
Week 1 (August 6) — “Unity is our Polar Star”: Christian Unity, Restoration, and the Beginnings of a Movement
Week 2 (August 13) — “People of the Parentheses”: Division, Challenges of Unity, and a Spirit of Ecumenism
Week 3 (August 20) — “People of the Table”: Theology, Tradition, Practice and Slogans
Week 4 (August 27) — “A Movement for Wholeness in a Fragmented World”: Structure and Future of a Denomination
